easy to swallow

And they will ask you

why you felt like sandpaper

when they swallowed you whole,

and you will say

that they should know

  1. They should have known better than to swallow at all, let alone be in a position to ask. I love the open nature of this piece as it allows the reader to apply personal experiences when interpreting the words. For me, I could easily say that we should never judge something by how it looks because it may taste completely different when we finally ingest it.

      1. Ah, me, too! It’s why I write, read, eat, sleep and breathe poetry. I am always intrigued with how others see things according to their own experiences and biases.
